It all began in 1966. Frank Jeckell started a group called Jeckell and the Hydes. While all the members were from Linden, New Jersey, some were playing in other groups. Frank needed a drummer and a lead guitar player to fill out his band, so he called on an old friend, Floyd Marcus. Floyd accepted and together they, along with close friends, put the group together. The group needed a new name and as the story goes, Frank found an old wrapper in a coat in his attic with the words 1910 Fruitgum on it. In 1967 the 1910 Fruitgum Company ® was signed to a recording contract with Buddah Records where they recorded a song the group really didn't like that well but after Frank persuaded them to do it as a lark, they changed the beat and feel of the song.

To their surprise, the song skyrocketed to the top of the charts and went gold. The song of course was SIMON SAYS. They immediately went on tour and did major shows which included American Bandstand. The group toured with many acts including The Beach Boys. They followed up with the hit 1 - 2 - 3 RED LIGHT, INDIAN GIVER, GOODY GOODY GUMDROPS and MAY I TAKE A GIANT STEP. VH-1 filmed the group for a Bubble Gum Rock Special.

These 3 records credited the 1910 Fruitgum Company with gold record status. There were five hits that made it into the top 40 in 1968 and 1969. The band perform a 90 minute show, two 45 minute shows or a 60 minute show depending on your needs.
